Youth Round-Up: Youngsters Crowned Champions

FC Barcelona’s youth teams have enjoyed a relatively good football week with some sides being crowned as champions of their respective leagues. Unfortunately, this week Juvenil A was knocked out of the Copa de Campeones (Champions Cup), which is played between the champions of the regional leagues and a few runner ups, like Barça in this case. And the loss had a bitter taste, as it came at the hands of eternal rivals Espanyol.

The Prebenjamin blaugrana side were crowned champions after destroying their rivals Sants (1-14). The future looks bright for these lads.

Barcelona’s Benjamin A & B sides participated in the 1st edition of the MICFootball7, which was held in Andorra.

Benjamin A won their age group, beating Espanyol in the final 2-1. Marc Alegre was chosen as the tournament’s best player. Benjamin B weren’t quite as lucky. After a tie with Valencia in the final 1-1, they lost in the penalty shoot out. Prebenjamin wasn’t able to reach the final, yet Marco Olmo was chosen as the best player of his category.

Youth Round-up: Juvenil A lose the League

This has been mostly a good week for FC Barcelona’s cantera, with no team losing a single game. Nevertheless, the oldest youth side, Juvenil A (U19s), drew their game and ended up losing the league to direct rivals Espanyol. In general the youth teams earned 13 victories and 3 draws this past weekend.

The Prebenjamin side is extremely close to being proclaimed champions of their league. If they win their next game against Sants locally, they will officially be handed the title of the Tercera Division Benjamin.

Four Cadete A players debuted with Juvenil B this weekend: Sergi Palencia, Lionel Enguene, Sergio Buenacasa, Juanan Entrena.
