Barça’s Juvenil A side has chance of winning the league title tomorrow if they beat tenth placed Cornellà at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper this Sunday. FC Barcelona announced on the official site that the match will be live streamed in Castillian, Catalan and English on FC Barcelona’s official YouTube channel at 12 PM CET.
Several FC Barcelona youth sides have been crowned champions of their leagues in the past two weeks. These are again great achievements for Barcelona’s famous youth academy, which is a key in the present day first team’s success.
The future looks very bright for the young lads, who all are being trained in the exact same style we see from the first team. FC Barcelona’s future is without doubt in safe hands.
FC Barcelona’s youth teams have enjoyed a relatively good football week with some sides being crowned as champions of their respective leagues. Unfortunately, this week Juvenil A was knocked out of the Copa de Campeones (Champions Cup), which is played between the champions of the regional leagues and a few runner ups, like Barça in this case. And the loss had a bitter taste, as it came at the hands of eternal rivals Espanyol.
The Prebenjamin blaugrana side were crowned champions after destroying their rivals Sants (1-14). The future looks bright for these lads.
Barcelona’s Benjamin A & B sides participated in the 1st edition of the MICFootball7, which was held in Andorra.
Benjamin A won their age group, beating Espanyol in the final 2-1. Marc Alegre was chosen as the tournament’s best player. Benjamin B weren’t quite as lucky. After a tie with Valencia in the final 1-1, they lost in the penalty shoot out. Prebenjamin wasn’t able to reach the final, yet Marco Olmo was chosen as the best player of his category.
This has been mostly a good week for FC Barcelona’s cantera, with no team losing a single game. Nevertheless, the oldest youth side, Juvenil A (U19s), drew their game and ended up losing the league to direct rivals Espanyol. In general the youth teams earned 13 victories and 3 draws this past weekend.
The Prebenjamin side is extremely close to being proclaimed champions of their league. If they win their next game against Sants locally, they will officially be handed the title of the Tercera Division Benjamin.
Four Cadete A players debuted with Juvenil B this weekend: Sergi Palencia, Lionel Enguene, Sergio Buenacasa, Juanan Entrena.
We start with brief reports regarding each team. . . .
Three to nil was the result that FC Barcelona’s Juvenil A side managed to get against CIDE Mallorca in a game that took place in the Mini Estadi – Barça B’s stadium – who will start hosting Juvenil A games as well. The duel that Oscar Garcia’s young men fought and took control of from the beginning was very intense, with all of that caused by the strict defensive strategy adopted by Mallorcan side CIDE.
With the new season rapidly approaching, FC Barcelona has completed their coaching line-up for the various youth football teams for next year. The biggest changes have come for the B team, with the appointment of new head coach, Eusebio Sacristán. The majority of the other youth teams, including Oscar García’s treble winning Juvenil A side, will keep the same coaches as the previous season.
Sergi Barjuan, FC Barcelona's U-17 coach
Barcelona’s under-17 side, coached by former first team star Sergi Barjuán, defeated their Real Madrid counterparts for a place in the U17 World Cup of Clubs final yesterday. Barcelona led 2-0 at the half with goals from Colina and Cristian, but allowed Madrid back into the match in the second half. The game ended at 2-2 after 90 minutes and went to penalties where Barcelona emerged victorious (5-4), after the Barcelona keeper Ondoa saved Melero’s weak penalty.
