The season’s ended for pretty much all the clubs. Not for Guardiola’s Barcelona, which has a chance to nab trophy no 14 on May 25. But the press has already moved on to more important matters in hand, which means only one thing – TRANSFER RUMOURS. Yes, if it was up to the press every bright star of a rival club could become a Barca player in the upcoming season. So it hardly comes as a surprise that the names of Gareth Bale, Iker Muniain, Robin Van Persie and Javi Martinez are being linked to Barca, given that all have played a vital role in the success of their respective teams this season.

Tottenham Hotspur left winger Gareth Bale was heavily linked to a move to Barca (and Real Madrid, Manchester United) if one was to go by the British tabloids. But all those rumours can now be put to bed as the 21-year-old player has signed a new four-and-a-half year deal which will see him with the London side till 2015.

Tottenham Hotspur’s official site made the announcement after their draw against West Ham United at White Hart Lane. The Welsh sensation has won many admirers for his attacking prowess, with his performance against Inter Milan at San Siro in the group stages of UEFA Champions League especially standing out.

English tabloid paper The Mirror claims that Barcelona would be ready to make a bid for Tottenham winger and Welsh international Gareth Bale (21).
