On Tuesday, Eusebio’s Barça B played a friendly against Tercera División side Cornellà at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. The match was used to give playtime to those who currently do not feature much in the league. The game ended in a 3-0 victory for the home side, with the goalscorers being Jean-Marie Dongou, Kiko Femenía and Gerard Deulofeu.
The first preseason game for the 2013-14 season has been announced. FC Barcelona will play a friendly match at the Allianz Arena in Munich against Bayern Munich, on Wednesday, the 24th of July. Both clubs began discussing the possibility of a match months ago, and on Wednesday the game was officially announced during the ECA General Assembly (European Club Association), currently meeting in Doha, Qatar. The match will be a friendly for charity, therefore all of the proceeds generated by the match will go to social programs.

FC Barcelona’s new away colors will make their official debut on Saturday during the friendly in Paris with PSG. The new jerseys will sport an adventurous orange – yellow fade and mirror in some ways the new design of the home jerseys for the coming season. I hated the new design the minute I saw it, but after some reflection…I still hate it.

Éric Abidal underwent a liver transplant surgery on April 10, 2012 and was subsequently released from the hospital on May 21. Under the heading of World Soccer Masters, a number of big name stars, including FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, Dani Alves, Javier Mascherano, and Jose Manuel Pinto will take part in an exhibition match this evening in Miami. Messi’s team will be coached by former Brazil national team coach Dunga (Dunga’s Masters), with the other side coached by former England manager Fabio Capello (Capello’s Stars).
Dunga’s team will also include players like Didier Drogba, Diego Milito, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Marek Hamsik, Alessandro Nesta, Diego Lugano, Martin Demichelis, Andre Santos, Gerardo Torrado, Jhon Viafara, and Ariel Ortega.
The opponents, Capello’s Stars, will feature Luis Suarez, Falcao, Diego Forlan, Edison Cavani, Guillermo Ochoa, Marco Materazzi, Lucio, Fabio Cannavaro, Pablo Osvaldo, Juan Silveira dos Santos, Walter Gargano, Clint Dempsey, Carlos Bocanegra, Jozy Altidore, and James Rodriguez.

FC Barcelona announced today the details of the blaugrana’s third preseason friendly match, which will be against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in Paris at the Parc dels Prínceps on August 4th at 20:00. The blaugrana squad will take part in the first edition of the Le Trophée de Paris (Paris Trophy), organized by PSG.

Lionel Messi will be the star of a friendly match taking place in Mexico this evening. Joining him as the “America All-Stars” will be players like Javier Mascherano, Robinho, Diego Milito, Giovani and Jonathan Dos Santos, Marco Materazzi, Carlos Vela, Mario Yepes, and José Manuel Pinto. Alexis Sánchez may also make an appearance as the Chilean is currently in Cancun. Former Brazil national team coach Dunga will be the man in charge on the bench.
The other team taking the pitch tonight will be comprised of players such as Leandro Augusto, Matías Vuoso, Damián Álvarez, Lucas Lobos, Jackson Martínez, Braulio Luna, and Egidio Arévalo from the Mexican League as the “Mexico All-Stars”. They be led by manager Ricardo ‘Tuca’ Ferreti.
Only days after meeting in the semi-finals of the Copa Catalunya, FC Barcelona’s B team took on Girona again, this time in a friendly, the last for the reserves before the start of their league season. While the B team came out winners in the Copa (1-2), they were unable to score against Girona on Saturday, losing 1-0 in a game filled with chances for both teams. FC Barcelona is in high demand for friendly matches, as the club’s roster of international stars virtually guarantees a full stadium. In the last several months, Barcelona has received invitations from 12 nations for exhibition games, including Brazil, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Vietnam, India, Poland, Morocco, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia and Colombia. The price for an appearance by the world’s best club: 2 million euros.
