Florentino Perez confident about beating Barcelona for Fabregas

Spanish newspaper Marca reports that English Premier League team, Arsenal, would be asking at least 45 million euros for their star midfielder and Spanish international Cesc Fabregas (22). Fabregas has reportedly told Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger, that he wants to leave the club at the end of the season. This would have attracted the interest of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who is reportedly confident of trumping Barcelona for Fabregas. With Barcelona facing presidential elections this year, Perez is convinced that Arsenal is not interested in negotiating with Barcelona’s presidential candidates and would prefer to deal directly with Real Madrid.

Calderon’s Real Madrid failed to include ‘anti-FC Barcelona clause’ for Robinho

Real Madrid is accustomed to adding the so-called ‘fear clauses’ in their transfer contracts, according to Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo. In other words, for a footballer not counted on by the merengue’s coach and loaned out to another club, that player is prevented by the ‘clause’ from being included in the line-up when his team faces Real Madrid. An approach used by the club so as not to be humiliated by the loaned-out player, something that if it happens will enrage the club’s own fans and be the delight of their rivals.

Responsible for the implementation of these clauses was Samuel Eto’o, who was often on target for Mallorca when playing against Real Madrid. The player was initially loaned to Mallorca before his full transfer in 2000. Whenever Eto’o scored his goal against Real Madrid, he would dedicate that goal to Florentino Perez, reminding him of his mistake. That situation was repeated when he played for Barcelona, which makes the insult doubly worse.

And now, with the player’s arrival at the Camp Nou is about to materialise, he continues to mourn the bad management of his predecessor, Ramon Calderon. It has to be remembered that the former president, with Bernd Schuster as coach, was responsible for ending Robinho’s stay at Real Madrid.
