Barcelona has a very good midfield. They are well organized, it’s not only Xavi and Iniesta, they all position themselves very well and they support their defence very well too. They have a strong defence, and the goalie is good.  It is a good team.

I am also amazed with Messi, what he is doing is very good.  He contributes alot of very good things for the team.  He is an individualist, but he always plays for the team.  He covers well at the back, is organized and finishes well with both feet. He is mischievous, and is a very intelligent player. He applies pressure just where the pressure is needed.

Former Real Madrid hero and all round legend of the game, Alfredo Di Stefano, recognises the quality that exists it Catalunya right now.

“Barcelona’s football was simply brilliant. Their superiority was there for the whole planet to see: the whites were cornered all game. Barcelona play football and dance. They treat the ball with adoration and respect, almost nurturing it. To see this team in action is a delight. Madrid are a side with no personality. They just run back and forth constantly, tiring themselves out. We saw clearly that their approach was not the right one. Barcelona were a lion, Madrid a mouse.”

After seeing the first El Clasico of 2011, Real Madrid legend and the club’s honorary president Alfredo Di Stefano has stern words for Jose Mourinho-led Real Madrid and praise for Guardiola’s FC Barcelona in his weekly column for Marca.
