Messi to undergo tests Monday

FC Barcelona’s Lionel Messi left the pitch owing to a right leg injury during Sunday’s match against Atlético Madrid. The Argentine forward exited the match in the 67th minute upon noticing his muscle problem and after all three substitutions had already been made. The player will undergo further medical tests Monday to determine the extent of the injury. Speaking at a press conference after the match, coach Tito Vilanova explained, “he [Messi] felt well but, as is often the case with muscular injuries, the discomfort returned suddenly.” Continue reading »

FC Barcelona’s often sidelined defender Adriano Correia addressed the press today and stressed the important of securing the Liga title as soon as possible. Barcelona’s dramatic exit from the Champions League has overshadowed the fact that the squad is on the verge of winning what is arguably the most important title of the season. “We started today’s training session with higher spirits than yesterday and we are focused on the Betis match, an important game, a final for us and a step towards what has always been our primary objective, the Liga title,” Adriano stated.

Happy Birthday, Adriano!

On October 26, 2011 FC Barcelona defender Adriano will be 27.

The Brazilian came from Sevilla  in July 2010 and has been used by Guardiola in a number of positions. His biography on the club’s official site says, Adriano’s “skill and forward running are always to the fore when he plays at either left or right back and his attacking instincts and hard work also mean he can easily fill a number of roles in midfield”.

In prepartion for Sunday’s game against Mallorca at Camp Nou, Guardiola’s squad held their penultimate training session at the Ciutat Esportiva on Saturday morning. The positive news coming out of the session was the presence of Adriano, able to to train with his teammates for the first time since picking up a slight strain in his right adductor muscle last weekend against Athletic Bilbao.

Catalan based newspaper Sport reported that the car of Barcelona’s newly signed player, the Brazilian Adriano Correia (25), was stolen three days ago. Three individuals approached Paulo Neves, Adriano’s agent, in a promenade in Barcelona and stole his wallet, after distracting him, where they found a parking lot receipt and a set of car keys. Trying their luck with several cars they were able to find Adriano’s car, and thus they ran away with it. Catalan radio Ona Fm were the first to unveil the incident.
