As FC Barcelona won the league title on Saturday evening, fans filled Las Rambla around Canaletes to celebrate. And yesterday the Barcelona streets filled up with supporters as the team travelled through the city in an open-bus parade. totalBarça’s Alexandra was there to get you pictures from the celebration…
There are numerous celebrations that mankind partake in – most are often wondrous and make us think, reflect and appreciate. A totalBarça reader did just that when ringing in the Iranian/Persian new year this past March 20, 2013. In this edition of We’ve got mail, we are excited to share with you a letter that was sent in to us that reflects on this culé’s passion for Barça in helping him celebrate Nowruz.
FC Barcelona’s players have made history before, and they will have to do so again on Tuesday against AC Milan. According to UEFA, only four teams have managed to overturn a deficit of more than one goal to advance to the next round in the Champions League. Of those four teams, all had an away to goal to work with. While past statistics might go against Barça, we’ve also seen this team and this set of players do many amazing things in the past, beyond the numbers.
So, we at totalBarça would like to know – do you think a comeback is on the cards for Tuesday? Can the blaugrana turn around the 2-0 deficit? Do you feel optimistic or pessimistic about the team’s chances of making the quarterfinals? Are we cursing the team by even asking these questions?
Please let us know what you think in the comments!
In keeping with the programs at FC Barcelona, we wanted to mention a campaign they are currently supporting – the “Quit smoking with Barça” initiative. One of the agencies working with FCB on this project reached out to totalBarça and we are pleased to spread the word of this healthy campaign.
In late 2012, totalBarça had the pleasure to exclusively interview author Richard Fitzpatrick who wrote a new book called: El Clásico: Barcelona v Madrid – Football’s Greatest Rivalry. The interview can be found here.
Publisher Bloomsbury Press donated three copies of the book and we are pleased to share these with the totalBarça community amidst this period of clasico fever. In order to win a copy, you will have to fill in the form found after the jump…and exercise your creativity skills.
Good luck and have fun!
El Pivote (The Pivot) is a totalBarça column by Anoop Jethwa about the trials and tribulations of FC Barcelona. From the positives to the negatives, this piece will dive deep into the living fabric that is blaugrana. We welcome your thoughts and feedback in the comments section.
Back from its winter break, El Pivote will focus on what Tito Vilanova and Jordi Roura should be concentrating on when it comes to team affairs in order to bring important trophies back to Catalunya at the end of this season.
As most of you know, here at totalBarça we enjoy hearing about new projects being spawned from fans’ passions for FC Barcelona. We were recently contacted by one of the founders of a newly created Barça fan and news site out of Romania. In this edition of We’ve got mail, we explore further how this project came about and what inspired the project.
For history buffs, there can never be enough nice to know bits of knowledge out there. And when it comes to history that relates to FC Barcelona, how does a history lesson get any better? In this edition of We’ve got mail, we share something that totalBarça friend and author, Richard Fitzpatrick, sent in. Richard was recently on assignment to cover Storymap, a website run by two Irish gentlemen that features true stories from Dublin. One of the video features was on Patrick O’Connell. If you don’t know who Mr. O’Connell is and what he did for FC Barcelona during the Spanish Civil War – you’re in for a treat!

El Pivote is back with a bang to fully discuss the controversial decision from Víctor Valdés to announce that he will not be renewing his contract at the club past 2014.
Last October, totalBarça held a contest to give away Graham Hunter’s updated version of Barca: The Making of the Greatest Team in the World. We are pleased to announce that all three winners have received their books from publisher BackPage Press and in this edition of We’ve got mail, we feature their prizes among other things.
MEElectronics wanted to ring in the new year with the totalBarça community by giving away a sweet set of headphones. The premise of this contest will be a very simple one so let’s get started!
We’ve had a big year. What do I mean by ‘we’? You, us, FCB – and everything else in between. This unique We’ve got mail series started a couple years ago because of all the intriguing mail we receive in our inbox. I assure you that we read each and every one of your messages even though we may not be able to accommodate everyone’s request, we try our best to. So what were the highlights of 2012′s WGMs? Let’s take a look…
From all of us at totalBarça, we would like to wish all the culés around the world Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! We look forward to aspiring, enduring, and celebrating all that comes our way in 2013.
The year 2012 has been a transitional year in some respects. From the appointment of Tito Vilanova to the arrival of Alex Song to the Qatar Airways sponsorship announcement. One thing is clear – change is always on the horizon, for better or worse.
totalBarça is no different; our team too has suffered some losses but thankfully we have also experienced some significant gains. As 2012 comes to an end and a new year comes upon us, we want to continue to grow. We are seeking a few passionate FCB fans to join our worldwide volunteer team at totalBarça. To learn more about us prior to your potential application, please click here. Then continue reading here for more information.
There’s just something about our culé community here that just love their cakes and their Barça. We also like nice surprises. So in this edition of We’ve got mail, we share with you a fun letter from someone in Croatia…
Today, December 5th, is known as International Volunteer Day and as most of you know totalBarça is made up completely of volunteers. A sincere thank-you to all of totalBarça’s team members from past and present. Your contributions to this unique project have made it ever-gratifying and we hope to continue to bring all our supporters the best culé community the world will ever see. UNICEF and FC Barcelona – the totalBarça community’s got your back.
For those culés in our community who volunteer for a cause, let us know in the comments about the organization(s) you dedicate your time to!
When it comes to contributing to totalBarça’s community, there are many organizations that have stepped up. From authors and publishers to ticketing agents and accommodations to electronics and designers. There’s more and we can’t thank them all nearly enough. Recently, we were approached by a banner/sign/magnet manufacturer. Curious to see what they were able to do for us? Also, what they can possibly do for you and other culés?
Most of the readers here at totalBarça would likely be more than happy to watch FC Barcelona play regardless of where the pitch is. Of course, how great would it be if it was the Camp Nou, in the city of Barcelona, and in the region of Catalonia? There’s no place like a club’s home base, I think we can all agree.
We were recently contacted by an accommodations provider in Barcelona and the organization has graciously offered a discount to the totalBarça community – for all those interested in booking a place to stay during their visit to Barcelona.
The totalBarça-BackPage Press promotional Twitter contest has now concluded. We’d like to thank all the contest entrants and congratulate the three winners. There is also a contest update for the The Champions Ring, too.
We often receive emails about asking how to purchase tickets for FC Barcelona matches, at the Camp Nou, and even for away games. Instead of generically saying: “Please refer to the official site…“, we can now excitedly say: “We know where you can get tickets !”
No, it’s not totalBarça that will begin selling tickets to games. In this edition of We’ve got mail, we feature an official ticketing agent for FCB who reached out to us and we are pleased to share their offering with you.
As most of you know, we like to share unique culé experiences that are sent to us at totalBarça. We thought it would be nice make this edition of We’ve got mail around the theme of cake.
Recently, ESPN blog writer Roger Bennett, wrote a piece regarding the influence of EA Sports’ FIFA franchise and how its presence in the US market has been satisfying not only the football faithful but also growing the love and knowledge for national and international football.
In this edition of We’ve got mail, we will link you to the original article and show you a few highlights. Indeed, there is a FC Barcelona twist to this.
Following our recent totalBarça Exclusive: Interview with The Champions Ring, the fine folks at The Champions Ring donated a 2010/11 UEFA Champions League print to the totalBarça community. Originally, we thought it would be great to just keep the gorgeous print for ourselves by dividing it up into 30 small pieces while framing them to distribute to the entire totalBarça team. Then, we realized it would be more fulfilling to just award it to one lucky contest winner, while keeping the print in tact. We are pretty sure that Deroy at The Champions Ring would prefer that as well.
How do you enter the contest? Why after the jump of course…
