We are 5 years old today. totalBarça is 5. Yet, it feels like it has been five decades. So many things, good and bad, have happened within the last half-decade at FC Barcelona. And ultimately, at totalBarça. The site/community/blog/homebase – whatever we want to call it – still remains true to its original objectives. Namely, being a central destination for all culés to come share their joys and sorrows of FC Barcelona.
Yesterday, the FC Barcelona board agreed to extend the club’s partnership with UNICEF until 2016. The deal was only extended to such date as this is when club elections are held and generally major agreements are not executed past the current board’s term. As has been the agreement for some time, FC Barcelona will donate 1.5 million euros to joint projects that are aimed at promoting education and sport in areas with children in need. As has been the case some years now, UNICEF will remain on the back of the Barça uniform.
totalBarça’s philanthropic initiative, known as The totalBarça Project, has been a longstanding goal since the organization’s inception on September 15, 2009. The first contribution to UNICEF will take place on/around totalBarça’s third birthday, on September 15, 2012, in the amount of $500.
