FC Barcelona’s first team returned to work at a training session this Monday morning after a two day break for the players. The footballers involved in the latest round of international matches were still absent, with games taking place on Tuesday. Jorge Pautasso led the first session of the week with nine available players, plus Sergio Busquets. The midfielder from Badia, who was able to partly train with the group, is recovering from a strain in his right leg.
Ten players from Barça B joined FC Barcelona’s first team for training this Thursday. The B team players joined the nine available footballers from the first team, who had also trained on Wednesday. Today’s session was again led by assistant coach Jorge Pautasso, as head coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino is currently in Argentina resolving some outstanding personal issues during the international break. He is expected back at the start of next week.
After the win in Valencia (2-3), FC Barcelona’s players had two days off coinciding with the start of an international break in the league calendar. A number of players joined their respective national teams, and the rest of the first team squad returned to work this Wednesday. A total of nine players trained under the orders of Jorge Pautasso, who lead the first session of the week. Coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino, taking advantage of the few days off, traveled to Argentina to resolve some personal issues.
Pinto, Oier, Piqué, Mascherano, Dos Santos, Tello, Montoya, Bartra, and Adriano were the players present at today’s session, while eleven first team members are currently with their national teams.
Barça right back Dani Alves (30) will not take part in Brazil’s two friendly matches during the international break owing to tendinitis in his right ankle. Alves was originally set to take part in the Brazilian national team’s matches against Australia in Brasilia on Saturday and against Portugal on Tuesday in Boston. The Brazilian was dropped from the squad after undergoing some medical tests and has returned to Barcelona to rest.
This Monday at midday FC Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets (25) underwent various medical tests to determine the extent of the injury he picked up at the Mestalla on Sunday. The tests confirmed that Busquets has a muscle strain in his right thigh. The injury came about after an accidental collision with teammate Javier Mascherano towards the end of the 2-3 victory against Valencia.

FC Barcelona coach Gerardo Martino has lead his team’s final training session this Wednesday at midday before the return leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Atlético Madrid this evening. The 19 players named in the squad for the match, Barça’s first chance for silverware this season, trained on the Camp Nou pitch.
FC Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has received his medical clearance and is available to Gerardo Martino for Wednesday’s match against Atlético Madrid. The player has overcome his troubles with his left thigh and is on the list of 19 players for the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup. Adriano Correia, however, will not feature in the match as his right hamstring strain persists.
During Monday’s training session, Lionel Messi was able to work with the group. Barça’s Argentine forward picked up some bruising to his left thigh muscle during the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup at the Vicente Calderón stadium and, though his recovery is going well, did not travel to Málaga as a precaution. This Monday Messi took a step forward in his recovery and took part in the session with his teammates.
This Tuesday, FC Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets (25) will renew his contract with the club which will keep him with the blaugrana through June 30th of 2018, with the option of an additional year. His buyout clause will remain at 150 million euros. The signing ceremony will take place at 13:30 at the club’s offices.

The operation, carried out by doctors Antoni Dalmau and Ricard Pruna at Barcelona Hospital (L’Hospital de Barcelona), was successful. The player is expected to be out of action for approximately four months.

Pedro, recovering from some bruising to his right calf, trained with his teammates for part of the session on Tuesday, while Fàbregas, with a sprained right ankle, was just added back into the group today. Joining the first team for the session was defender Frank Bagnack, from Barça B.
