Preview: FC Barcelona v Deportivo La Coruña

After two weeks with another international break, Deportivo La Coruña will visit the Camp Nou on Saturday. One might remember the last meeting in April, when FC Barcelona rocked the Riazor and cruised to an easy 8-0 win in a Luis Suárez master show. Or one might remember how the teams have drawn the last two meetings at the Camp Nou (both matches 2-2), after Barça looked secure as leaders with a delightful 2-0 lead until the final stages of both matches. The match kicks off at the Camp Nou at 4.15pm CET tomorrow, Saturday 15th October 2016.

It will be interesting to see how the team deal with their disappointment in the last match against Celta Vigo, while keeping in mind how they usually lack rhythm upon returning from international breaks, last seen in their 2-1 loss against Alaves, also at the Camp Nou.

Team news

Having had many players away on international break, and looking ahead to the Champions League midweek match against Manchester City, expect rotations once more for Barça. Alba, Roberto and Cillessen are out, and Umtiti is in need of medical clearance, but he could play. A logical lineup with Luis Enrique’s rotations in mind could look like Ter Stegen – Vidal, Piqué, Mathieu, Digne – Gomes, Busquets, Arda Turan – Messi, Alcacer and Neymar.

Deportivo has Joselu and Juanfran out injuries, while Sidnei is in the match squad but doubtful. Expect re-election for most of the players from their last match, though late signing Ryan Babel could start. Lux – Navarro, Sidnei, Albentosa, – Mosquera Parada, Borges – Babel, Colak, Gama – Andone.

Match Prediction

The team should be able to secure and hold on to a win in this. We call for a 3-0 Barça win.

Well…. Messi’s coming back from injury, so it would not be wise to start him. Instead, start Rafinha on right wing and bring on Messi at 60 minutes so he can gain some match rythm before City game…..!

Don’t think messi will start, maybe a neymar-paco-suarez upfront
