“I’m very happy for all of them. We saw a lot of positive things and it’s worth sitting down and analysing it all when we’ve calmed down a bit,” said FC Barcelona’s director of football Andoni Zubizarreta after the team’s 4-0 victory over AC Milan.
Zubizarreta also added: “Messi’s two goals were great for the team, Villa’s was very important and Alba made everyone’s dreams come true.” Zubizarreta underlined the efforts of the whole team but also had special words of praise for Sergio Busquets: “his match was amazing because it’s the style of football that is taught in our youth system.” He also said that the fans played a crucial role in the outcome of the match: “the public understood the match, the stadium was packed 10 minutes before kick off.”
“We will remember this for years,” Zubizarreta continued, “from the very first minute we pressured them really well high up the pitch and we didn’t let them think. They’ve shown us why they are in the Champions League, but I believe we played an excellent match. We were very organised going forward, we had rhythm and a lot of continuity.”
Lastly, Zubizarreta noted that there’s still a long way to go before the end of the season: “we’re in the quarter-finals, there’s a lot left and on Sunday we play against Rayo Vallecano.”
