Sport.es is reporting today that Barça front man David Villa (31) and defender Adriano (28) have been omitted from the first team squad as they visit Milan.
As expected, midfielder Xavi (33) returns from his hamstring injury to bolster the line up.
Villa missed the win at Granada this past weekend due to a kidney stone and the technical staff are believed to prefer that the player stays in Barcelona to work on his match fitness in readiness for the upcoming La Liga match against Adriano’s old team, Sevilla.
Whilst the Brazilian’s injury isn’t thought to be serious, the player will be rested for the Milan trip as a precautionary measure.
Stand-in first team coach Jordi Roura also has the option to reintegrate Xavi back into the midfield, just in time for an intense run of high profile games over a 10 day period.
The full squad which travels to Milan is as follows: Valdés, Pinto, Dani Alves, Piqué, Fabregas, Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta, Alexis, Messi, Thiago, Mascherano, Bartra, Sergio, Pedro, Jordi Alba, Montoya, Song, Tello and Oier.
