After four days off, FC Barcelona’s first team returned to training this Tuesday with the focus turned to the weekend league match against Celta. Though a majority of the international players were still absent, seven players from the first team were able to work under the orders of Jordi Roura and Aureli Altimira jointly with Barça B at the Ciutat Esportiva: Abidal, Dos Santos, Pinto, Thiago, Bartra, Tello, and Montoya. The latter four returned to Barcelona following their friendly win against Russia on Monday with Spain’s U-21 team (3-1).
Additionally, three players worked on the margin of the group. Injured players Carles Puyol, Adriano Correia, and Jordi Alba spent today’s session doing recovery work. The next training session, on Wednesday afternoon at 18:00, should take place with the rest of the international players back with the blaugrana. One of those returning players, Xavi, received his medical clearance on Tuesday with the Spanish national team and featured in their win over France (0-1). Spain’s medical team, in constant contact with FC Barcelona, decided to give him the all-clear ahead of the World Cup qualifier.
