Training, entire squad will travel to Madrid

All the members of FC Barcelona’s first team, including the injured players, will travel this Sunday to Madrid, where Barça will face Atlético Madrid (19:00). Coach Tito Vilanova has decided to bring all of his players because of the possibility of being proclaimed league champions at the Vicente Calderón.

Goalkeeper Víctor Valdés is out of Sunday’s match. This week the player had increased his specific training work to overcome the trouble caused by the plantar fasciitis in his left foot. However, his foot injury has not gone away and has now been joined by a calf sprain in his left leg. Valdés will therefore miss the game against Atlético Madrid and his progress will determine his availablity for other upcoming matches. Barça B goalkeeper Jordi Masip has been called up to the first team for this weekend’s game.

During training, Abidal picked up an injury in his left leg. He will also miss tomorrow’s league match and his progress will determine if he can feature in other upcoming games.

Mascherano, who continues with his recovery, was able to train fully with his teammates. Juvenil A goalkeeper Joseph Fabrice Ondoa also took part in today’s training session.

Before the start of training today, the players met in the center of the pitch to offer their best wishes to one of the captains of the team, Andrés Iniesta. The midfielder is celebrating his 29th birthday today.
