FC Barcelona’s new signing, Neymar spoke today at a press conference after the team’s training session. The Brazilian emphasized that he is hungry for success and he shared his first impressions of being part of the Catalan team.
Neymar had some words of praise for his new teammates, saying that “Tello, Pedro and Alexis are great players. Skilled, fast, smart … that’s why they are at Barça.” He also revealed that he gets along really well “with Alves, Adriano, Messi Dos Santos, Pinto, also with Xavi. But I’m fine with everyone. I’m living a dream.” He added: “I turn my head and see Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol. I’m more than happy.”
Asked about living in the city of Barcelona and adapting to a new country, Neymar told reporters that he was learning some Catalan and now he hopes to continue. “Barcelona is a fantastic city,” he said, “but what surprised me the most is the club.”
Speaking about his role in the team, Neymar assured that “I am preparing to help my teammates, either by giving assists or scoring. I see no need to change anything. I must be myself, stay the same.” He also noted that he is ready for hard work, “I’m training hard and I’m looking forward to the start of the Liga. I’m trying to adapt as quickly as possible. Barça’s game is the best in the world and very fast and I am making an effort.”
Neymar also spoke about the upcoming game against his former club Santos. He said that “the friendly for me is like playing the Champions League Final. I’m very happy and it will be a very special game because I will play against my former teammates and will defend Barcelona with all my pride.” He also revealed: “I hope to score a goal against Santos because I have a special celebration.”
