Javier Mascherano continues to make progress in his recovery and this Wednesday the player was able to train with his teammates for the first time since his injury against Paris Saint-Germain in France. The Argentine, who tore the internal ligament of his right knee in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, spent part of the session working with the group.
The first training session of the week was directed by Jordi Roura, as Tito Vilanova is in New York until Thursday for various medical tests. In addition to Mascherano, today’s training session also included Pedro, who trained normally. The forward missed the match against Betis owing to gastroenteritis (stomach virus).
Víctor Valdés trained outside of the group on the grass of pitch no. 1 of the Ciutat Esportiva. The blaugrana goalkeeper missed the last league match because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot. As for the other recovering members of the squad, Abidal spent the session doing specific work while Puyol worked on his recovery.
