With so many international players absent for the next few days from the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, FC Barcelona’s coaches have opted for a joint session on Tuesday between the first and B teams. The four available members of the first team -Pinto, Tello, Montoya, and Abidal- trained alongside the available members of Barça B, in a session led by Roura and Eusebio.
The presence of Abidal was the main novelty of Tuesday’s training session. The French footballer has begun training on the pitch again after spending a few days at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona for tests to examine the progress of his recovery from the liver transplant he received last April.
Besides the internationals, there were a few other players missing from today’s session. Marc Bartra was absent with a fever, while Thiago and Song did specific work in the gym. The Cameroonian midfielder has some pain in his knee and won’t play with the Cameroon national team this week. Thiago has some minor discomfort in his right knee and preferred to work in the gym.
Barça B is also not without its share of injuries and absences. Rafinha did not train owing to an injury in his right leg. His progress recovering from the injury will determine his availability for the B team’s upcoming matches. In any case, he is suspended and will miss the next match against Guadalajara on Saturday. Also absent from the B team were the players called up for international action: Luis Alberto, Grimaldo, Deulofeu, Sergi Gómez, Ledes, Ié, and Cá. On the positive side, midfielder Sergi Roberto was able to begin training with the group once more.
