FC Barcelona today stated on the club website that left back Alejandro Grimaldo, who suffered a tear in the anterior cruciate ligament and the lateral collateral ligament in the right knee, has successfully undergone surgery on Friday.
Grimaldo picked up the injury after coming on in the second half against Hércules on February 23rd after a duel for the ball with defender Mora. The talented left back screamed out in pain, needing to be taken off on stretcher.
The 17-year-old left back is estimated to need seven months for his recovery after the operation by Dr. Ramón Cugat and his team.
Eusebio on Thursday said that the whole team is behind Grimaldo and that the Valencian defender has the right mentality to deal with this setback.
