FC Barcelona travels to the Scottish city of Glasgow to face Celtic FC Tuesday night for a Champions League Group H fixture that spelled defeat for the Catalans last season. In a match that saw Celtic’s only two attempts on net converted, the Scots came out 2-1 on the night with goals coming from two players who no longer feature for Neil Lennon’s side, Victor Wanyama and Tony Watt, the latter of whom is on loan to Lierse SK in Belgium. Despite the changes to both sides’ personnel, The Hoops and Barça have both done very well in the league so far, indicating this clash could yet again prove to be anyone’s victory.Click for more

Just as Bojan Krkić was looking to bring his career back on track, following two disappointing years at Roma and AC Milan with this season’s loan spell at AFC Ajax in Holland, bad luck has struck the Liñola native once more.
A collection of FC Barcelona members, organized under the group Go Barça, is ready to present a “moción de censura” or a vote of no confidence against FC Barcelona president Sandro Rosell and key vice presidents Javier Faus, Carles Vilarrubí, Jordi Cardoner and Josep María Bartomeu. This is an act that members are allowed to perform under section 51 of the club’s statutes when they feel the club’s officials are not running the club according to said laws. This could have enormous repercussions if successful; the impeachment of Rosell and said other board members.

Gerardo Martino gave his mandated post-match press conference following Saturday’s game against Almería, which FC Barcelona won and in doing so, created a new club record seven consecutive wins to start the league.
Last night FC Barcelona midfield maestro Xavi Hernández made his 450th appearance for his team in La Liga, continuing to blaze the path as the club’s undisputed man with the most league appearances (Migueli is second on 391).

And such was the message that went along with Gerard Piqué’s tweet after yesterday’s win over Almería which set a club record for best ever league start. Looks like a pretty unified group of players.

Yesterday evenings victory over Almería made it seven for seven in the league and that did not go unknown to the players. Read what Sergio Busquets, Adriano, Xavi Hernández, Marc Bartra and Dani Alves had to say.
At the time of writing, Marc Bartra has just finished what was by far his most impressive match in a Barcelona shirt yet, in his first start under Gerardo Tata Martino. The young Catalan defender recovered 13 loose balls (the most on the team), made 12/12 effective clearances, had four tackles and three interceptions and completed 71 out of 75 passes. He also got forward several times, his shot narrowly missing the near post after he delicately controlled a ball out of the air and strolled into the Almería box. This followed his performance and goal against Real Sociedad as a substitute on Wednesday.
Messi was substituted off with a thigh muscle injury early in the first half against Almeria today, and Catalan daily Sport is reporting that he could be out for two to three weeks. Messi will at the minimum miss upcoming matches against Celtic and Valladolid, after which comes the international break. Leo had planned to play for Argentina despite the Albiceleste having already qualified for the World Cup, but one would imagine that he will not be risked if he is still recovering from injury. Messi could miss Osasuna away on the 19th as well, but he should be healthy for Barça’s trip to the San Siro on the 22nd – or at the very worst, the Clásico that will take place the following weekend.
Continuing from mid-week’s 4-1 La Liga victory against Real Sociedad, FC Barcelona has managed to win by 2 goals to nil away at UD Almería’s Juegos Mediterraneos. A Lionel Messi jewel of a goal in the first half was supported by an Adriano team-effort finish. However, this came at a cost as Messi withdrew with injury seven minutes after opening the scoring, going off midway through the first half. Although this will be the main talking point for the next few days leading up to Tuesday’s Champions League match in Glasgow, there are other events that need to be highlighted.Click for more
This iteration of FC Barcelona, with new coach Gerardo Martino at the helm, has led his team to its best ever Liga start in history: seven matches, seven victories, 21 points. When asked about the record in a press conference following the match on Saturday in Almeria, the Argentine responded: “All I’m doing is supporting my boys. They’ve spent years beating records; mine is just circumstantial.” This guy was built for press conferences.

Matchday 7 of the Liga Adelante is already here and this weekend Barcelona B takes on islanders RCD Mallorca. Mallorca was relegated from La Liga last year and will be looking for an immediate return to the first division. The match will be a chance for Barça B to get back to winning ways after the team suffered a comprehensive 3-0 defeat at the hands of Recreativo de Huelva last week. Sunday’s game will be a special occasion for Mallorca’s midfielder Martí Riverola and goalkeeper Ruben Miño, who are both former Barça players and had made appearances with the first team. The two were on Barça’s books for 13 and 8 years respectively, so this will be a return to familiar territory for both players, just a year after leaving the blaugrana club.
FC Barcelona’s second kit this season is based on the senyera, the flag which represents the Spanish region of Catalonia. Already, just over one month into the season, it is the most commercially successful away shirt in the club’s history. But according to vice-president Carles Vilarrubí, the shirt is destined for an even larger honor.

A historic opening win streak in La Liga for FC Barcelona could be in the cards when the club faces Almería on Saturday. Head coach Gerardo Martíno essentially called the record inconsequential ahead of the match in Andalucia saying, “winning seven out of seven wouldn’t mean much if we don’t end up winning the league. I’m more worried about where we’ll be next May.”
The FC Barcelona squad traveled to southern Spain Friday in anticipation of the following day’s match against newly promoted side UD Almería. After a hectic first nine games, Barça has what should be its first genuinely easy game of the season. While blaugrana has won its first six games handily – and is seeking a club-record seventh out of seven – Almería has yet to win a single match so far this season. That dismal record includes a 2-2 draw to Levante, a team which faced Barça already this season, a spectacular 7-0 demolition in Gerardo “Tata” Martino’s official debut. So while no La Liga match can ever be taken lightly, Tata has a good idea of how this one will go.
