Reus in La Masia

Reus in La Masia

The city of Reus, population 99, 505, is the capital of Baix Camp, one of Catalonia’s “comarcas” (county/district) located just over 100 kilometers from Barcelona.  With the new acquisitions of Joan Àngel Roman and Josep Ramon Sardà, to Barça B and Juvenil B respectively, there are now seven players in FC Barcelona that call Reus home, making it the highest presence in the FC Barcelona football program.  The most famous of the seven is Isaac Cuenca, followed by Sergi Roberto, while the others are still in the junior programs: Iker Goujon, Juan Cruz Agüero, and Marc  Alegre.  It could have been 8 from the city had Arsenal not pinched highly rated 16 year old Jon Toral Harper in 2011.

Interestingly, not only do these players all come from the same city, but from the same suburb of Santes Creus and all played for the local side of the same name under head coach Ignacio Rodríguez.
