After winning the semi-final 4-0 over Vitesse yesterday, FC Barcelona Infantil A would once again play group stage rivals Red Star Belgrade in the tournament’s final. On the opening day of the tournament, Barça had triumphed 4-0 over the Serbian team in their first group stage game.

Even though Barça took control of the match from the very start, as they had in all their previous games, it was obvious that Red Star had learned one or two things from the first meeting between the two sides. The Serbs started off with high pressing, making it more difficult for the Barça boys in their passing. Also Filpovic from Red Star was tasked with man marking Barça’s big star Lee Seung Woo, making it very difficult for Lee to play his game. But despite the hard work from Red Star, it didn’t take very long for Barça to grab the lead as Adrià Guerrero scored with a header from the game’s first corner. The goal was followed by a spell without many clear chances for Barça, despite their stunning passing game. During this period, Barça defenders got to show their skills at times when Red Star got the ball, preventing the Serbs from getting a single chance close to the blaugrana goal.

The second half began like the first, with a lot of Barça possession but few chances. But when Lee Seung Woo got a little space from his now “best friend” Filpovic, we had 2-0. The victory never felt to be in danger, but the blaugrana boys had to work a bit harder in this final than in their previous games during the tournament. 2-0 and Champions!

A quite impressive note is that FC Barcelona’s Infantil A was the only team in the entire tournament from all age groups to not let in a single goal, ending the tournament with 5 wins and 17-0 in goal difference. The fact is that none of their opponents were even close to scoring against them.
