FC Barcelona have almost certainly given up on Javi Martinez, and Catalan scouts have their eyes open for other players who would add a little steel to the Barcelona midfield. Two new names have recently surfaced as potentially serious prospects: Alex Song and Jeremy Toulalan.
Alex Song is no stranger to any FCB fan who has witnessed the recent epic Champions League battles with Arsenal. Song, 25, is from Cameroon and has been an object of interest for Barcelona scouts now for several seasons. His current contract with Arsenal expires in 2015, but the London club seem willing to listen to offers, as long as they are greater than 20 million Euros. Barcelona is said to be considering a 15 million Euro bid for the player and want the deal to be closed by Sunday.
Jeremy Toulalan will no doubt be a less familiar face, but the French midfielder played an influential role at Malaga last season, and is said to be on the auction block as part of the fire sale currently in progress at the club. Toulalan, now 28, would be a potential replacement for Seydou Keita who left Barcelona for China earlier this summer.
So, tB readers: Alex Song? Jeremy Toulalan? What say you?
