Lionel Messi hasn’t always had the warmest relationship with the Argentinian football fans, unfair as it may be.  However, over the last 6 months or so, not hurt at all by his awesome hat-trick against Brazil in June, Messi is winning over the nation he still very much feels is his home.  The news that historic Argentinian winery Valentín Bianchi is launching a collection named after Messi is further evidence the Albiceleste nation are taking Lionel Messi to their hearts.

In total, 4 wines are to be launched in Spain and Argentina under his name.  Three will be labeled simply “Leo”, a white called “Torrontés”, a red “Malbec”, and a “Malbec” premium.  Torrontés is one of the most iconic Argentinian wines.  The fourth bottle will be a sparkling wine, labeled “Leo: esencia creadora”, or “Leo: creative essence”.

The deal was done not with Messi himself, but with the Leo Messi Foundation under the agreement that a percentage of all sales are donated to charitable causes that promote the well-being of children, health, and sports.
