Offside: Blaugrana party

Almost the entire FC Barcelona football team, managers, staff and their families met for a dinner held at the W hotel in Barcelona on Wednesday evening. Gathering before important events is one of the Club’s traditions, and this time was no exception as the team met to unite before the final of the Copa del Rey, which will also be Pep Guardiola’s final game in charge. Dani Alves couldn’t attend owing to his surgery earlier that same day to fix his broken collarbone which he picked up during the first team’s training session. Also Eric Abidal missed the party, as he is still in the Hospital Clínic following the liver transplant which he underwent more than a month ago.

The W Hotel has become one of the usual places for the Barça squad to stay and celebrate. The beautiful building with unparallelled views of Barcelona’s Mediterranean shoreline provides a great surrounding to build on the unity that has always existed in this group and to motivate team to close the season and Guardiola’s cycle with yet another title, potentially the fourth of the season.

It was a relaxed dinner party with jokes and good humor. The celebration was a great way to thank Guardiola for his work for these past four seasons and to show support for Tito Vilanova.
