The expansion of the Barça brand beyond geographical borders is not limited to sports. One of the many examples was recently brought to light by a news item published in the Chilean press (publimetro.cl), about the names of babies enrolled at the Registry Offices. Among the names there are several named after football players and, above all, from Barça. It’s recently very popular among Chilean parents to name their newborn babies after the stars of FC Barcelona like Messi or Alexis.

Among the most frequent are: Alexis, Lionel, Messi, and also from footballers from other teams such as Bojan, Neymar and Iker.

Some of these parents have taken creative liberties with spelling the names of the football stars, with children on the role appearing as: Alecxis, Aleksis, Alexcis, Lionell, Lioner, Lionhell, Belkam or Cristhiano.
