Youth Round-up: Champions, again!
Several FC Barcelona youth sides have been crowned champions of their leagues in the past two weeks. These are again great achievements for Barcelona’s famous youth academy, which is a key in the present day first team’s success.
The future looks very bright for the young lads, who all are being trained in the exact same style we see from the first team. FC Barcelona’s future is without doubt in safe hands.
Cadete A were crowned champions two weeks ago with a great win against Girona. They were 0-1 down but managed to turn the score to a 5-1 win. Quique Alvarez’s men have scored more than a hundred goals this year. Corredera, Albert, Palencia, Juan, and Toni were the scorers in that game.
The next team crowned was the Juvenil B side, who has had a great season. Garcia Pimienta’s lads also became champions after a win against Girona. They won 3-1 to claim the league. The goals were scored by Serramitja (own goal), Munir and Iu. The team celebrated on the pitch first and continued their ‘fiesta’ in the dressing rooms.
Last week, two other teams were crowned champions. The first was the Benjamin B team, coached by Sergi Mila, who beat their opponents Calella (5-2) at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper and claimed the title, with rivals Espanyol finishing second with one game left in the league. They also did not lose a single game this year.
Second was Fran Artigas’s Cadete B side that ended the league and were crowned champions after a marvelous win against Vilanova I Geltru (7-1). With three games left before the end of the league, they were proclaimed champions after a magnificent year. Being the team with the best offense and best defence, this is certainly a team to keep an eye on!
Two other teams claimed another two titles this week, the Benjamin D and Infantil A sides. Jordi Perez’s Benjamin D team lifted the trophy after destroying their opponents Pomar CD (12-1). Francesc Sanchez’s Infantil A side managed a (6-0) win against Damm, to claim their throne with 79 points.
Worthy of note is the fact that the Benjamin B team only allowed 27 goals into their net, while scoring 263 goals and summing up 69 points.
Benjamin A were declared champions a few days ago as well. Marc Serra’s team won (1-9) against Palleja. Scorers and future stars are: Marc Alegre (1), Moriba (3), José Martínez (2), Aitor (1), Álvaro (1) and Kays (1). They were honored by the opposing team with a Guard of Honor passage into the dressing rooms.
With this, we end a report full of titles won by FC Barcelona’s future stars and potential fan idols. Let’s hope Barça youth teams keep up the great work next year and let’s hope for a summer in which more stars are brought into La Masia.
