Wednesday training, Messi starts recovery work

Leo Messi, a last minute absence from the first friendly of the preseason owing to intramuscular bruising, did gentle specific work on the field away from the group this Wednesday afternoon, which was the team’s first training session after the match in Hamburg. Messi had company on the sidelines, as captain Carles Puyol also continued to work on his recovery.

For the most part, the players who traveled to Hamburg held a normal training session. Two exceptions were Marc Bartra and Sergi Roberto, who both played more than 45 minutes at the Imtech Arena and therefore held a gentler session than the rest. The training, which included the 12 Barça B players, also marked the full return of Kiko Femenía, who has overcome his thigh injury.

FC Barcelona will hold its next training session on Thursday morning, beginning at 9 am.
