Tuesday training and squad list
Barça will enter the final phase of the preseason with two friendly matches against Manchester United, Wednesday in Gothenburg, and Dinamo de Bucarest, Saturday in the Romanian capital. Following training on Tuesday, the coaching staff announced the list of 24 players that will participate in the ‘mini-tour’.
Among the new faces on the call-up list is Jordi Alba, who will join the blaugrana squad on Wednesday after featuring in the European Cup and Olympic Games this summer. David Villa and Andreu Fontàs have also made the list. El Guaje was cleared to play last week but hasn’t yet featured on the pitch. Fontàs, meanwhile, makes the trip though he has not yet received his medical clearance. Adriano Correia, recovering from problems with this ankle, will also travel with the team.
Rounding out the list are four players from the reserves: Tello, Ilie, Sergi Roberto, and Rafinha. However, Jonathan dos Santos will remain in Barcelona as he continues to recover from a thigh injury in his right leg.
The Mexican midfielder did specific work on the sidelines during training this Tuesday morning, which was the final session at the Ciutat Esportiva before the trip to Sweden. Like the previous evening’s session in Girona, Adriano trained normally with his teammates. The squad will travel to Gothenburg on Wednesday morning and will head directly from there to Bucharest later in the week.
Squad List: Valdés, Pinto, Dani Alves, Piqué, Fàbregas, Puyol, Xavi, Villa, Iniesta, Alexis, Messi, Mascherano, Sergio, Pedro, Jordi Alba, Afellay, Adriano, Fontàs, Montoya, Bartra, Tello, Ilie, Sergi Roberto, and Rafinha
