Reports in Spain indicate that FC Barcelona are keen to sign defender Jordi Alba before the Catalan makes a formidable impression in Euro 2012 and which will allow Valencia raise his transfer fee. The club is therefore keen to reach an agreement with Valencia to secure the services of the left-back. The trouble is that Valencia, unsurprisingly, want to make the most out of the transfer and are quoting a price of €15 million for the player, who has a €40 million buyout clause. Barca, on the other hand, are willing to pay a maximum of €11 million for the alumnus of La Masia. Alba has a year left on his contract with Valencia and hasn’t yet signed an extension perhaps indicating that he too like Cesc Fabregas wants to return to his boyhood club.
