Do we need 23 world class players in our squad? No, no team in the world will. It is not like Botia would not start big games because he sucks. It is because he is young. I believe Botia is the next Pique (the good Pique, of 2010). He is already better and more experienced than Muniesa and Bartra, both of whom are being promoted next year, so your argument is invalid, because Pep and Tito obviously think that young, yet still slightly unreliable players like these have a place in the first team.

Just because he isn't a world beater doesn't mean we don't need him. Xavi and Puyol are only getting older, and (at least for Puyol) they can no longer play 60 games a year. We only have one defender on the bench atm (Mascherano), so we need two more centerbacks to have 5 – a centerback (vertonghen?) and Botia (he is so talented and young, and only 3 mil, so not signing him would be frankly idiotic). Sprinkle in a couple youth. Then we can rest Puyol and co for games against minnows, keeping them fresh for CL and such.

I dont want new Strikers, Im statisfied with stikers we have, i know i Villa is Injured, but he will be much stronger next year, i want Defenders, first siging i want to see is Jordi Alba, then Thiago Silva if Possible, if not then we shoul promote some Defenders from youth system

1) His contract expires in 2 seasons; 2) There are other teams in the world besides Barca. Alba may want to play for Barca, but not enough to risk injury without a long-term contract (especially after witnessing the Canales's multiple knee injuries this year); 3) Bayern, Juventus and Inter all want Adriano…he's worth at least 15 million (we paid 10 when there were no other bidders).

There is no way a defender from Valencia with one year left on his contract is worth 18m euros. We will never pay that amount for a player we can get for free in a year.

We wont be getting 15m for Adriano. Maybe from Anzhi only.

Then he has no place in our squad. We need players who can fill in when injuries and suspensions take their toll, and we dont know when that happens. A backup player needs to be prepared to play any game, and quite frankly, if Botia isnt ready for that, then it is best we cash in on him by buying him back and sell him on.

Those players came through the club youth program BUT no club can rely entirely on its own academy. Every club needs to look for outside enforcements from time to time. Barça's defense needs major overhaul/additions/replacements . We can't compete in major competitions if we ONLY use players who came through the system !!
