FC Barcelona’s players were back to work this Monday morning, training with the ball for the Copa del Rey at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. Barça has begun preparing for the first leg of the Round of 16 this Wednesday away at Cordoba with all the available footballers of the first team plus Sergi Gómez, Jordi Quintillà, Joan Àngel Román, Javier Espinosa, Ivan Balliu, Sergio Araujo, Edgar Ié, Oier Olazábal, and Cristian Tello, of the B team.
The players who started Sunday’s match in Sevilla held a gentler session to help them recover. Carles Puyol, who was substituted on Sunday as a precaution, and Isaac Cuenca trained in the gym. Ex-Barça player Gabri watched this Monday’s session.
Absent from the pitch today was midfielder Cesc Fàbregas. Further tests carried out this Monday have confirmed that the player has a tear in the thigh muscle of his left leg. He will be out for approximately four weeks.
