As announced today by FC Barcelona, midfielder Thiago Alcántara will not be able to take part in the Olympic Games in London this summer. The player underwent medical tests this Thursday to assess the state of his tibia injury. The results confirm that the injury has not been overcome and that Thiago must continue his recovery process during the next few weeks, therefore the player will not receive his medical clearance before the Olympic Games.

Thiago Alcántara was one of four FC Barcelona players named by Luis Milla, coach of Spain’s Olympic squad, for his preliminary list for the London games. Also included on the list are Martín Montoya, Cristian Tello, and Jordi Alba.
