I am sure Pep will find a way out to manage the early pressing by the opposition. In the last two games, this successful high pressing really did affect us as we struggled to get the ball out of our own half.
And now this is like a good idea for every team, and against the big teams especially, we will really need to find a way out.

With our players, I am still hopeful

if all the teams will gonna play like this i dont know its alots of work to pep i hope he knows the solution for this

Is it possible to mix tiki taka and counter attack? If it is, we should try to mix it

    • Now we are free! says:

No Barca don't know how to absorb pressure.

    • Write_theFuture says:

YES! Take the goal against Betis in the manita last season. What happened to those dangerous counter attacks? I hate to say this, but we should look at aspects of how Madrid plays and see what we could learn from them, such as their ability to be direct and counterattacking. No, we should not ever park the bus or allow the other team to have possession, but in those few instances where the opponents DO have possession in our half and lose it, instead of trying a counterattack we usually just have Xavi and Busquets try to tiki taka with the defenders passing backwards until the opponents have backed off and then we try our very slow build up once again. I also really miss the way we played in 08-09, it was more direct and counter attacking, we should be able to adopt that method once in a while. We certainly have the players to counter attack, I mean Messi has the speed and dribbling prowess to literally be a one-man counterattack, couple that with Iniesta, Pedro, Sanchez, Villa, etc. you should be able to make it work.

I also want to see more shots from distance. Iniesta and Xavi are surprisingly sooo good at it! We should look at the game vs Man U as inspiration, have players make runs flooding their box, then have a couple centermids stay just outside, so a simple layoff backwards to them would enable a scoring opportunity.

@ Write theFuture: perish such idea. Barca as an institution isn't ready to abandon its footballing philosophy for any other. We should be working on how to make tiki taka much, much more potent, slow or not.

    • jessica says:

Counter attack is impossible with Xavi. He just slows everything down no matter what. :*

  3. Levan_FCB says:

The key is to mix tiki – taka + counter attack + direct Play. sometimes we just want to get inside the net with the ball. we must be more direct when we need to and shoot more often.

  4. KAmel says:

I agree, Alves missed 2 open shots because he wanted to create a beautiful assist, when scoring should have been the priority. both shots infront of goal.

"Dani Alves Doesn't Wanna Score" (one of my favorite of allas' videos)

      • el capitan says:

thats what you get when you use wingbacks in tridente, adrianus is even worse and what comes to counter attacking Barca has several players like Messi, Iniesta, Alexis and Alves who could punish the opponent on the break but now we waste those couple seconds after recovering the ball and thats a lifetime in launching fast counter attacks

  5. MS says:

Injury woes affecting our play a lot. MESSI alone cant score goals always, when he is surrounded by 4 or 5 players its difficult to score. Remember when ever messi doesnt score our chance of winning the game is very less.Injury to villa was a great blow, we need an experienced player who can change the game. I prefer a loan move for Tevez. SO that Messi can freely deployed than now. Also Tevez is a player whose work rate and style of play is perfect for Barca.

    Barca till' the end!

I would love to beleive this! My heart wants it but my brain doesnt! Its a desperate attempt!

  8. Paco says:

    One reason against:
The sheer impossibility to keep up such a high level of play and intensity (i.e. off the ball movement, pressing) when the team is as small as ours and when the majority of players had to play 70+ matches a year for club and country over the last 3 and a half years!
