FC Barcelona’s young forward, Cristian Tello, has today been speaking of his desire to remain with the Catalan club despite the fact that many other sides, most notably Atletico Madrid, have made no secret of their desire to add the speedy forward to their ranks.
Speaking from the Spanish U-21’s training camp in Las Rozas, Tello revealed that he is flattered by the interest shown in him by the Europa League champions, but the Barça youth product did not mince his words when it came to where he wanted to play his football in the future.
“If I have to go, I will leave. Of course it would be a great honour for me to go to Atletico Madrid but I dream of playing for FC Barcelona, and fulfilling the contract I have with the side,” said the striker, who featured in 22 games for Barça last season, scoring 7 goals in the process.
Barça’s intentions regarding Tello remain unclear at the present time, with much speculation currently circulating that the club could possibly be intending to use the player in a swap deal that could see Atletico forward, Adrian, head to Catalunya in return.
For now though Tello will be focusing his energies on playing his part for Spain’s U-21 side, who will be taking part in an important European Championship Qualifier against Estonia on Thursday night.
