Sunday training focused on recovery and Celtic
Without much time to rest, and after Saturday’s victory at the Riazor (4-5), Tito Vilanova’s team was back to work this Sunday at midday at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. The session focused on helping the players recover from their efforts against Deportivo, and to begin preparing for the Champions League match on Tuesday against Celtic at the Camp Nou.
In addition to the available members of the first team, seven players from Barça B worked under Vilanova: Tello, Oier, Sergi Gómez, Sergi Roberto, Rafinha, Patric, and Planas. As is usual the day after a match, the footballers who started against Deportivo held a gentler session of recovery work.
Carles Puyol, injured at Benfica, along with Dani Alves, injured during the match against Real Madrid at the Camp Nou, have continued to work on the pitch apart from the rest of their team-mates. Defender Gerard Piqué continued his specific work in the gym.
On Monday, Barça will train at the Camp Nou at 18:00, in a session open to the press for the first 15 minutes. Before the session, at 17:00, Tito Vilanova and a player will hold the customary press conference. The team will spend the evening all together, and on Tuesday, at 12, hold its final training session ahead of the 20:45 kick-off against Celtic of Glasgow, in the third game of the group stage of the Champions League.
