Stat of the Day: A Tale of Two Managers
Saturday’s 2-1 win over Real Sociedad meant that FC Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola joined Frank Rijkaard with 160 victories at the club. The way each coach achieved this milestone says a lot about Guardiola’s amazing coaching success:
- Rijkaard: 160 wins, 63 draws and 50 defeats in 273 matches.
- Guardiola: 160 wins, 44 draws and 18 defeats in 222 matches.
Johan Cruyff still leads this list with 245 victories.

Oh man look at Buis leg. they say its not serious its just a cut and does not affect any bone, joint or ligament. oh I hope so – http://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/busquets-va…
Is Busquets going to miss the game against Valencia? We need him in midfield in that important game!

look at this goal.
http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/3277/la-liga/2012/… i dare anyone find a more retarded article?
man u have to feel with them….they put articles against barcelona on stand by for 4 years because they didn't have anything negative to say about us….now they are talking a lot because they know soon we will get back to our from at least when half of the injuries are gone….
Complete idiots, other than being unlucky infront of goal Barca played well.
totally agree wif u, either the reporter is retarded or a madridista…
YAYA TOUREEEE
[youtube YJcXc_f9lWU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJcXc_f9lWU youtube]
Since when Yaya Toure gave up his citizenship and played for Ivory Coast? Are you sure that is Yaya Toure's goal? Looks like someone needs a pair of glasses.
yeah you need the glasses josh…. it is Yaya and he is from the Ivory Coast so what are you smoking????
Ummm..why don't you use the power of the internet and check on some facts?
Yaya was born in Ivory Coast, so that's his National Team.
Which country do you think he should play for, instead?
@josh aside from a pair of glasses i recommend a hearing aid, as you can hear the commentator screaming YAYYAAAA TOUREEEE
And while you are at it , get a new brain too !
messi and cesc need a beak to get their minds free….
cuenca hasnt got the strengh to be a first team player in my mind.. he isnt super quick and as you could see the game he played with the first team he wasnt included in the tiki taka at all… although on the right wing he takes the spaces for alves and messi… thats the main problem i see because cuenca is used to play as faw as possible on the wings…..
btw does someone knwo if tello is righ or left footed ?
I'm fairly certain that he is right footed, although one of the great things about him is that he has the ability not only to cut inside but to take it further down the left wing and put in dangerous crosses with his left foot.
since i do not see many barca b games, i cannot judge it clearly. but i am completely underwhelmed by Cuenca so far. like you said, he just seems to operate at a slow pace, no quick feet, no quick passing.
What i'm seeing is barca b players are not good enough probably mostly because they do not get enough playing time, many of them need some full seasons. To fight weekly. Barca should loan them out faster even if it's low level clubs, they need to experience to fight and struggle weekly for at least 2 full seasons. At Barca they are too protected in the shadows, it creates too many so/so players who are not toughened by experience. Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol took years to get at their current level. I'm afraid most masia youth will just dissapear again into obscurity or benched at clubs like Benfica or whatever. At least loan them out, if only to leagues like Holland, then at least they'll get used to open build-up attacking football. I wonder if the youngsters have enough humility to admit they are just not good enough yet, even if you play at barca, you can't substitute years at masia for years of experience in the big boy leagues.
I agree, just look at Thiago. The young man needs to play weekly somewhere and build the physique and mentality to play fast and hard. He seems to slow to aticipate on opponents circling him and closing spaces. Playing at Barca's A team is completely different from B team. The opponents do not give you anything, they don't mind playing 10 men behind the ball for 90 minutes and roughing you up. The time to make decisions and passes is much shorter. These young players need to experience that weekly for at least 1 or 2 seasons in a row, not just 20 minutes every couple of weeks.
If we loan out our best B players, whom are we going to use as reserves for the A team? Clearly we don't have as much money as RMA to have experienced players on the bench, and that may tip the scales in RMA's favor this La Liga season. Their bench is more than strong enough to make another UCL level team on top of their starters.
On the contrary, we must keep them, and give them enough playing time, gradually, over the course of the rest of the season, for them to hone their skills and acquire experience for next season. Besides, given our extensive injuries and crazy-busy game schedule at present, I really think Pep did not have much of a choice – he had to start some B team players and rest some regular starters. And despite the tight final score in my opinion it worked, we played well, we created a lot of chances. The only negative: we were very wasteful in front of goal – more so than usual. We were seriously challenged by RSO who played excellent football, yet we still managed to create incredibly good scoring opportunities – we just were not able to take advantage of many of them. Messi had a number of unbelievable misses – but the bright side is, even on a wasteful day like this, he STILL managed to score one goal and provide one assist.
So I am not worried about blending in the youngsters, particularly Tello, who shows phenomenal promise, and Cuenca. Unfortunately we may not have enough time to catch up with RMA, at the rate at which they are (not) dropping points. For that reason, I really hope we'll give maximum dedication to winning the Cup and the UCL, because those are very much within our grasp – unlike La Liga, which, I'm afraid, is now RMA's to lose.
I strongly disagree with you! First of all, if you remember how Thiago was playing last year for the first team as a starter player, you will understand how important it is for these kids to get experience! Think about that Cuenca last year was playing in the 3rd category of Spain and now he is a starter in important games for us. I believe that Cuenca has already exceeded everyone's expectations and will improve a lot until the season end! Lastly how fast do you expect a player to be when he is 1.81 m high and being 21 years old? His body is still growing!
)
As for our B team, you all see how good these kids are! They will be our stars of tomorrow and we shouldnt loan them out! Also don't forget that most of the b players wouldn't play these many games this year if we didn't have so many injuries! We are unlucky in terms of numbers of injuries, but these boys are very very good! (except Dos Santos who I don't really like as a DM but Bushi is my favorite player
God made ONE Pep Guardiola and then broke that mold…. so thank you, God!
Congratulations, "Ball Boy". May you break every record out there… while being Barca's coach for years to come.
Love and Respect.
where's Bojan? Everytime i watch Roma i don't see him playing!
normally is titular, but in the last matches Borini has win the place
BOJAN scores! amazingly strong our little Bojy!
4-0
boajn is playing better…but borrini has been awesome this season ..at start bojan was strting now borini has taken his place…but both are playing good
How can Barca fans start disregarding Cuenca so easily? … The whole team shld be blamed nt just the Boy …take a look at Cesc, he’s off-form ..what abt Xavi and Busi, they hv been below average for a very long time … Messi hasn’t been in form, same for Sanchez … Pique is the worst of them all ..like Shakira’s sapping His strength and concentration..
what a goaaaaaal by Bojan, class
Atleast Bojan scored a goal.
guardiola is an amazing coach, i hope that he remains for many years to come, he is is an essential part of the squad and the fans and the players adore him
most team mates in any side would react like that…. I love Barca but lets not act like we are the only ones who care about our players…. yes i know i'll get minus's for that but still.. !!!!!
