Sergio Araujo: “I’m eager to sign for Barca”
Boca Juniors striker and Argentina U23 international, Sergio Araujo (20), spoke to Gerard Romero of Catalan radio station RAC1 this evening. The player revealed he is “eager” to close his move to Barca B and eventually earn a place in the first team. He even asked for advice from Boca legend Riquelme on the club. The deal could be closed today.
The 20-year-old has ambitions to grow at Barca and wants to work hard to achieve his dream: the first team. He is aware that he needs to earn it based on goals. “I like playing on left side of the forward line and from there drift to the centre, but if the coach wants me to play nine, I have no problems. I will do my best playing as a nine and hopefully I can score many goals. That would help all my colleagues and me in particular to reach the first team”.
The young Argentine striker has clear ideas. “I have to go with the mentality to play for the first team,” he says, although he knows that in the beginning he “should improve with the fellow reserves and we should all help each other.”
Araujo says he asked his good friend, Boca legend and ex-Barcelona player Riquelme, about the Catalan club. “He said it is a great city and a great club, when I asked for his advice on the club.”
