Only hours after the final group stage match in the Champions League ended in a goalless draw with Benfica, Barça held a training session this Thursday morning at the Ciutat Esportiva. Leo Messi, who picked up a knock on Wednesday evening, worked in the gym while the starters against the Portuguese side held a gentler session focused on recovery.
For their part, Andrés Iniesta and Jordi Alba trained normally with their teammates for the first time this week, after spending Monday and Tuesday in the gym. Also working with the main group were Alexis, Bartra and Dani Alves, who are all in the final stages of recovery from their respective injuries. Rounding out the group were Tello and Espinosa, from Barça B. The players from the reserves who played against Benfica returned to the orders of Eusebio Sacristán. Éric Abidal was also present at today’ session, having returned to working on the pitch.
Barça will have Friday off and then return to training on Saturday in Sant Joan Despí to help prepare for the team’s visit to Betis.
