Recovery session as focus shifts to Levante
After Tuesday’s win against Getafe (4-0), FC Barcelona’s first team returned to work this Wednesday morning. At 11, the players gathered on pitch no. 1 of the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. As is usual the day after a game, the players that started yesterday’s match spent today’s session doing recovery work.
At the start of the session, the players and staff gathered in a circle in midfield where they acknowledged Thiago Alcántara’s 21st birthday with a round of applause.
Against Getafe, Pep Guardiola had decided to rest Dani Alves and Gerard Piqué as a precaution, after the Club’s Medical Services confirmed that both players’ muscular injuries persist. During this morning’s training session, the Brazilian right back worked with the group, while Piqué continued his recovery work on the sidelines.
The session was also attended by four players from Barça B: Tello, Montoya, Muniesa –who all saw some minutes against Getafe-, and Bartra.
Pep Guardiola has given his players a day off on Thursday, with the squad’s next training set at Friday at 11 in the morning ahead of Saturday’s league game against Levante at the Ciutat de València (22:00). After training, the blaugrana coach will appear at a press conference.
