Carles Puyol will miss the Copa del Rey final on May 25 and is doubtful for the European Championships next month. According to the statement issued on the official site by the club’s medical services, Barca captain finished the weekend game against RCD Espanyol with a discomfort in his right knee. After initial exams, the defender underwent more tests that confirmed the injury and the need for surgery to treat it. The 34-year old player will undergo arthroscopic surgery on Saturday 12 May.  The surgical team will be led by Dr Ramon Cugat. The approximate time of recovery will be about six weeks, making Puyol’s participation in Spain’s quest for defending the Euro next to impossible.
