OFFICIAL: Oier renews through 2015
This Thursday at midday, Barça B goalkeeper Oier Olazábal (22) has signed his contract renewal with FC Barcelona through 2015. The agreement, announced last week, includes a buyout clause of 12 million euros that will rise to 30 million once Oier makes the first team. The keeper expressed his satisfaction with the new deal: “They have invested in me and I am very happy. It’s in merit of the five years I have spent here, in which there have been good and bad moments. It is a reward.”
Besides Oier and his agent, the contract renewal was attended by vice-president of sport Josep Maria Bartomeu, director Jordi Mestre, and sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta.
Speaking to Barça TV and the Club’s official site after the signing, the Basque discussed his aspirations: “My goal is to reach the first team, to be a part of the group and to compete.” Oier also spoke of the gratitude he has for the goalkeeping coaches who have helped him for the past five years at the Club.

I hope that he will be Valdes' heir and not someone that is not from La Masia.

I have seen this guy punt the ball up field, like most goalkeepers, that's not Barcelona's Culture, he will not do that under Guardiola's watch.

He has been a great goalkeeper for us.
As he is aging (36 years old), he will slowly be replaced by another.
He hasn't been great. He has been mediocre at best. Let's be real here, he is making way too many mistakes.
And that cost you what??? He is not playing in the two most competitive tournament. The only tournament we played him, we are in the final and we have beaten R.Madrid over the two legs with him in the team.
Has led us to 3 finals in 4 years and that's all you have to say? Shame…
OT: according to AS, EE doesn't want the copa final to be played at the Bernabeu coz they will be celebrating the CL final win. The cheek if them, WOW.:o I'm lost for words.

The point that stuck out was 'they'll be celebrating winning the CL final' . They could have simply said no coz we had refused before.

Yeh Pinto has been a good service to Barca but by god the guy gives me mini heart attacks at time, Hopefully this summer Barca sign some defenders i would like Bale but he would cost far to much so Thiago Silva and Jordi Alba would be to great additions to the team, with Tello and Cuenca coming through i think we are now fine up front when Villa, Pedro, Afellay get over the injuries, as long as we dont sell anyone and bring in them 2 defenders the team would be perfect.

Barca has a good history with Basque keepers. Lets hope he is a patient one and cross our fingers and hope he can be a stand out keeper in the future
OT: Am I the only who's madly impressed by Jordi Alba? He was easily Valencia's best player over the two games. He was fighting like crazy. I hope we buy him back!

The prob wid alba is he is more of a winger. he can’t defend that well. with him bombing on one side and alves on the other, our defence would look vulnerable. hence, FORCA ABI!!
