New date proposed for the Catalunya Super Cup
The Catalan Football Federation (Federació Catalana de Futbol) has proposed a new date for the final of the Catalunya Super Cup and Copa Catalunya. The proposed date is Wednesday, September 26. The Federation’s president, Andreu Subies, explained at midday this Monday that the four Clubs involved will have 48 hours to decide if they accept to play or not on this date. Barça would face Espanyol in the Super Cup, while Nàstic de Tarragona and Manlleu would compete for the Copa Catalunya title.
If this date is accepted, the final would be played between the fifth and sixth matchdays of La Liga. Barça is set to receive Granada at the Camp Nou on either the 22nd or 23rd of September, and travel to Sevilla the following weekend, on either the 29th of 30th of September. The group stage of the Champions League will begin the week before, on either Tuesday, September 18th, or Wednesday, September 19th.
Originally, the two competitions were scheduled to take place tomorrow, July 31st, but the Catalan Federation cancelled both games after FC Barcelona announced that it would field its B team for the match.
