Despite continuing their recent good form in this match, Barça B’s unbeaten run came to an end against a strong and well organised Cordoba side.
The home side were dealt a blow early on when an injury to Pepe Diaz forced him off before the game was 10 minutes old. His replacement Joselu would come to have a say in where the points ended up.
As with a number of games this season, Barça were heavily reliant of the interplay of Rafinha and Deulofeu, in much the same way as the first team look to Messi. When these two youngsters are on song they are an absolute joy to watch, their vision and distribution is first class. However it does concern me that the limitations of Eusebio’s team are often exposed when either allows their level to drop. It’s certainly another issue for the manager to address over the course of the season.
After chances at both ends of the pitch, it was Joselu who opened the scoring, and right on half time Dubarbier increased the lead. It was the worst possible time to concede the second goal for the young Catalans, especially given they were in the ascendancy at this point.
Dongou came on for Ilie on 56 to add some power to the Barça front line and the reshuffle paid dividends almost immediately with Rafinha pulling one back on the hour mark.
With the visitors pushing for the equaliser, time and again they were exposed at the back, and they were grateful to keeper Masip for keeping them in the game on more than one occasion.
Barça were still pressing going into injury time but, in the end, they just didnt possess the necessary firepower within which to be able to influence the score line, Dongou once again disinterested at this level.
