Following the footsteps of his friend Josep Guardiola, Manel Estiarte, Barça’s head of external relations, announced that he too will leave FC Barcelona at the end of the season, as was confirmed on the club’s official site. “I told the President three days ago that I was leaving- It’s been an amazing time that we have enjoyed together and I want to give an enormous thank you to the Club, the board who have shown their confidence in me and especially to Pep”, said Estiarte to Barça TV.
One of the world’s finest waterpolo players, Estiarte joined Barça’s head of external relations in 2008, when Guardiola took over as the manager. About his departure, he said, ”I feel very sad but also pride in the fact that I am following a friend“, referring to Guardiola’s decision to leave. “Maybe I’m wrong, but I have always done what I thought was best for the Club.”
