Latest international call-ups include 16 Barça players

After Sunday’s Clàssic against Real Madrid, 16 of FC Barcelona’s first team players will join their national teams for fixtures that will take place during a two-week break in the League. The largest contingent will be with Spain, as coach Vicente del Bosque has named 8 Barça players on his list for two 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Belarus (Oct. 12 in Minsk) and France (Oct. 16 in Madrid). Valdés, Jordi Alba, Xavi, Sergio Busquets, Iniesta, Cesc, Pedro, and Villa will spend next week with the Spanish national team preparing for those two matches. Gerard Piqué, injured, is one of the main absences from the squad, along with Carles Puyol, who injured his left elbow on Tuesday.

Six blaugrana players will join Spain’s U-21 side for two U-21 European Championship qualifiers against Denmark on October 11 and 16. On the list are first team players Montoya and Bartra, as well as Planas, Tello, Deulofeu, and Sergi Roberto, from the reserves.

Other call ups include Messi and Mascherano with Argentina, Alves and Adriano with Brazil, Alexis with Chile, and Song with Cameroon.
