FC Barcelona’s Juvenil A team managed a 0-2 victory at White Heart Lane in London against Tottenham’s Under19 side as part of the NextGen Series Cup’s group stage yesterday. Read the match report after the jump!
Two goals coming from Barcelona’s number 9 Sandro ensured that all the three points would go to the Catalan side’s pockets. The goals were scored at the 19th and 72nd minutes of the game, which was Barca’s second in this year’s version of the tournament.
With this victory the team coached by Jordi Vinyals has 4 points registered for their account after a draw in the first game. This makes them leaders of their group.
After the first game’s draw against Anderlecht, a great reaction was performed by FC Barcelona’s Juvenil A side against one of the English teams participating in the tournament, at the White Heart Lane. Sandro was the star without doubt after scoring two goals. An amazing performance by young Sergi Samper was also seen throughout the game.
Game commences comfortably
Barca started the game with a line-up made of: Ondoa, Godswill, Costa, Bagnack, Quintillà, Samper, Adama, Quesada, Sandro, Pol Calvet and Ebwelle. On the other hand, Spurs opted for the following line-up: Vigouroux, McQueen, Stewart, Dombaxe, Ball (Lameiras, min. 74), Veljkovic, Mcevoy, Coulibaly (Onomah, min. 65), Bentaleb (Ogilvie, min.74), Pritchard y Gallifiuco (Coulthirst, min. 50).
Just one minute into the game Coulibaly surprised Barca with an attack but right after that Barca just got miore comfortable on the ground of play. In a first half with much control and witnessing large possession periods by both teams, Barca were the one who inaugurated the scoring sheet.
Sandro scored in the 19th minute after a great pass from Adama coming from the right, followed by Sandro’s great finish, giving Barca the lead. The English team had two important players offensively: Coulibaly and Pritchard; with the second hitting the post before the half time whistle.
Sandro strikes again
The second half started similarly to the first with Coulibaly getting a good chance to score. But the Catalan side didn’t take much time to respond through a chance by Quesada in the 50th minute. A few minutes later, Sandro was about to score the second to his name with a shot from inside the area. Another time, spectacularly, Sandro scored this time. In the 72nd minute finishing a great long pass from Ondoa in an amazing way.
After the full time whistle the team returned to Barcelona with 3 points making themselves leaders with 4 points – one point ahead of Tottenham and Wolfsburg in their group.
