Jordi Alba debuts with the first team
FC Barcelona’s recent signing, Jordi Alba (23), debuted with the blaugrana’s first team against Manchester United on Wednesday in a friendly game played in Gothenburg. Today was his first day with the team after a well deserved week of vacation that followed his presence at the Olympic Games. Coach Tito Vilanova decided to give Alba a chance in the 66th minute of the game. The debuting player replaced Adriano and played for 24 minutes.
After the game, Tito Vilanova explained that Alba debuted without training with the team because he knew many of the players already (from the Spanish National Team). Thanks to years spent in La Masia, Jordi knew and understood the style of FC Barcelona. The coach underlined that he talked to Alba before the game and the player said that he felt fine.
So only one week after Jordi came back from the London Olympics, where the Spanish football team was eliminated in the group stage, Alba debuted in a Barca shirt. Last Wednesday he suffered after the last game of the Olympics against Morocco, tonight one of his aims was fulfilled, the dream of every player at Barça: to debut with the first team.
