A number of FC Barcelona’s players have been called up for various international friendlies that will take place next week on August 15. Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has named six blaugrana players in his squad who will travel to face Puerto Rico (22:30). On the list announced this afternoon are Victor Valdés, Gerard Piqué, Sergio Busquets, Andrés Iniesta, Pedro Rodríguez, and Cesc Fàbregas. Both Xavi Hernández and Jordi Alba are given a rest after featuring for Spain in this summer’s European Championship. The squad will meet and travel to Puerto Rico on August 13.
Besides the six players for Spain, Messi and Mascherano have been called up to face Germany with Argentina; Dani Alves is named to Brazil’s squad which will play Sweden; Alexis will join Chile for a friendly against Ecuador in New York; and Dutch coach Louis van Gaal has named Ibrahim Afellay for his side’s friendly against Belgium.
