As FC Barcelona’s official site has today announced, the Catalan club and French side Paris Saint-Germain have come to a preliminary agreement for the transfer of Brazilian defender Maxwell (30). The player has been granted permission by Barça to travel to Paris this afternoon, to finalize the details of his new contract with PSG.
Once the details of his new contract have been settled by Maxwell and Paris Saint-Germain, the player will undergo a medical exam and then the transfer will become official.
Maxwell arrived at FC Barcelona in the summer of 2009, transferring from Italian side Inter Milan. The Brazilian has won 10 titles with Barça, including three Spanish Super Cups, two European Super Cups, two Leagues, two Club World Cups and one Champions League.
During his two and a half years with the blaugrana, the left back has featured in 89 matches: 57 in the League, 17 in the Champions League, 11 in the Cup, 3 in the Spanish Super Cup and 1 in the Club World Cup. Maxwell also added two goals during his time with FC Barcelona, both coming in the current season (2011-12).
